Meet Your Provider: Leah Douglas, MD
At Texas Children’s Pediatrics Austin Pediatrics, Dr. Leah Douglas and her colleagues consider it a tremendous joy to care for children. As parents themselves, they strive to be understanding and available to the families they are privileged to serve. Austin Pediatrics loves taking care of newborns while still providing pediatric care for all age groups. Pediatric services include performing well-child care or checkups, giving immunizations, providing same-day urgent care appointments, managing asthmatics, managing ADD and/or ADHD and managing many other common pediatric conditions. Courtesy prenatal and introductory physician consultations are also provided.

What is something that sets you apart (e.g., a unique philosophy or something you’re known for)?
When caring for my patients, I collaborate with parents and families. We become a team with one common goal: a happy and healthy child.
Fun Facts: What 1-2 things might surprise us about you?
I have four rescue animals, including a cat with three legs.
Why did you choose to work at Texas Children’s?
I chose Texas Children’s because I wanted to work for a world-class organization dedicated to serving children and women.
What’s your favorite book/movie/TV show, and why?
My favorite is Game of Thrones, because of the dragons!
What is your favorite way to unwind and relax after a long day of seeing patients? After work, I enjoy hanging out in my backyard with some good music, a glass of wine and my adorable pups.
What do you do to stay healthy and manage stress?
I try to maintain my physical and mental health through a combination of yoga, spin and long walks with my dogs.
What’s on your bucket list?
I want to travel to as many countries as possible.
Have you always lived in Austin? If not, what brought you here? I am a newbie! I moved to Austin in December, specifically to join the Texas Children’s family.
Any recommendations for good places to eat healthy in Austin?
Uchi — it’s my favorite so far.
Have you been to any good live music shows lately?
Diplo, Leon Bridges and Wilco.
Are there any particular aspects of Austin’s culture or lifestyle that resonate with you on a personal level?
I love the friendly people, the delicious food and the fun vibes!
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I absolutely love getting to know my patients and their families over time. Building a long-lasting relationship and watching children grow up, happy and healthy, brings me the most joy.
If you weren’t a doctor, what would you be doing?
I would be a veterinarian with a slew of rescue animals.
