Meet a Mom- Hallie Graves from Hardie Alcozer Law - Greater Austin Moms

Hi Hallie! Thanks so much for taking the time to talk to us! Tell us a little about yourself and your law firm- Hardie Alcozer.

I grew up in South Austin from age 10 and still live Southwest! I’m a single mom to two kids who are 3 and 5. My kids are both wild and fun, have disabilities, and are adopted from foster care! My kids and I love exploring Austin’s playgrounds (especially those with fun food and drinks!) and hanging out with friends. Without kids, I love seeing Broadway shows in NYC with my sister any chance I get!

Our firm provides full service for estate planning, probate, guardianship, and a wide variety of contested or disputed matters related to trusts, estates, partnerships, guardianships and other fiduciary matters. We’ve been Hardie Alcozer for 2.5 years, but our team has decades of experience and loves helping to bring thoughtful, creative, and effective solutions to any problems. We aren’t your typical lawyers. We take our work and our clients very seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We recently held our first Office Olympics and are gearing up for our Halloween dog costume competition!

Our mission is to Give Moms the Gift of Time — What are your best time-saving tips/resources as a mom?

I could talk about this for days!! As a single mom to kids who have a lot of intense needs, the best thing I have ever done is OUTSOURCE and delegate. I try to spend my time doing the things that need ME in particular – my work for my clients, helping my team, and most of all, my children. So, I have gotten good at asking for help, paying for quality help, and not sweating the small stuff. These days, you can pay for just about anything!  My favorite recent finds are mobile car detailing (they detail my car in the parking lot of my office, car seats included!) and prescription delivery to my house! Also, because my kids have a ton of medical appointments, I have sitters bring them from school to the appointment and I meet them there, so that I can work up until then but still take my kiddo to the doctor.

Rapid fire, tell me a little more about any upcoming things with Hardie Alcozer and some of your goals!

What are some of your biggest challenges within your business you are facing right now?

We love our clients and are always looking for ways to help new ones! It’s difficult at times to explain our dispute resolution practice (in which I am a partner) because we handle a wide range of matters. Basically, if someone owes someone a special duty (like a trustee, executor, guardian, partner, parent, or agent), we can help if something goes wrong in that relationship, or someone does not uphold their duties.

Tell us about your event you have coming up in early 2025!

The first ever Hardie Alcozer Will Clinic will be early 2025. We want to do several next year to allow families to have access to our services who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get documents made for their family. We preach that everyone needs estate planning, and want to provide it to the families who need it most!

Where do you see Hardie Alcozer Law in the next 5 years?

We would love to grow our team by a few more people and help even more central Texans! We are also starting our HA Gives Back program next year, which will enable us to provide low or no-cost estate planning for families who need it!
