Generation SERVE's Family Volunteer Day 2022 - Greater Austin Moms

I remember volunteering with my mom from a young age and I’ve been wanting to do the same with my kids. We’ve passed out bags for neighborhood food drive, collected canned goods from the pantry for said food drives and purchased holiday gifts and school supplies for children. But we’ve never been able to go out and volunteer somewhere with other people until we found Generation SERVE. Generation SERVE serves as the middle man between non-profits looking for volunteers and those that are looking to volunteer.

The best part? They have family-friendly volunteer opportunities and serving opportunities you can do from home.

Coming up this weekend on Sunday, November 6 is Generation SERVE’s Family Volunteer Day. If you’re interested in volunteering with your family or looking for a way to get your kids involved in the local community, sign up to volunteer with Generation SERVE at their free event, Family Volunteer Day.

Family Volunteer Day is perfect for families who haven’t volunteered through Generation SERVE before or those that are looking to get back to volunteering. At the event, families will have the opportunity to complete over 20 different service projects supporting 30+ Central Texas nonprofits. All of the projects and partners represented at Family Volunteer Day will give you an idea of what Generation SERVE offers year-round.

The event will be held at downtown’s Central Library on the first floor. There are three flexible arrival windows you can sign up for and you’re free to arrive anytime during that timeframe. (9:30-10:30a; 11-12p; 12:30-1p).

The most effective way for youth to learn about community needs and how they can make a difference is through action, helping side-by-side with a parent/caregiver and witnessing the example of community service first-hand. Volunteering is not only good for the community, it is healthy for the volunteer.
