Kids Block Party
Kick off our annual Summer Reading Program Summer at Austin Public Library with a day of discovery, learning, and creating! We’re kicking off this year’s “Unearth a Story”™ theme with a Central Library takeover full of dinosaurs, fossils, storytimes, and summer fun! This event recommend for children ages 3-10 and their families.
Event Highlights:
🦴 Dinosaur George Pop-Up Museum (9 AM – 4 PM in 1st Floor Special Events Center): Explore incredible dinosaur fossils and replicas from the Dinosaur George Traveling Museum
🚌 CapMetro Bus Storytime (9:15 AM & 9:45 AM outside on 2nd Street): Enjoy a special reading of “Gus Hearts the Bus” with local author Lindsay Leslie aboard an Austin Public Library Centennial decorated CapMetro bus, parked on 2nd Street
❔ Ask a Paleontologist (10 AM – 12:30 PM in 1st Floor Demonstration Area): Touch fossil replicas and ask all your dinosaur questions to the Texas Science & Natural History Museum team
🦕 Dinosaur Storytimes (10:30 AM & 11:30 AM in 3rd Floor Children’s Room): Join paleontologist BK Bones for a special storytime “Dinosaurs of Texas”
🌳 Nature Fun (10 AM – 12:30 PM in 3rd Floor Atrium): Discover cool nature items with the Austin Park Rangers
🔬 Tech Play & STEM Exploration (10 AM – 12:30 PM in 5th Floor Innovation Lab): explore the Innovation Lab and try out robotics, featuring Girlstart and Girl Scouts of Central Texas
