This week’s Meet a Mom interview is very exciting. Get to know Annie Morris, the new Co-Managing Editor of Greater Austin Moms.

Tell us about yourself and family-
Hi! I’m Annie Morris and I’m so excited to be partnering on Greater Austin Moms alongside Alison! I grew up in a small farm town in southern California and went to college in northern California near San Fransisco. After college I lived in San Diego for a few years before deciding to move to Austin. I’ve been in Austin for over 10 years now and have loved every minute of it. Moving to Austin in my mid 20’s was so fun! I made so many wonderful friends and explored the city as much as possible. After living here for 5 years, I met my husband on Bumble and the rest is history. We couldn’t be happier to settle down in Austin and start our family here.
Shortly after moving here I found a job in property management. I worked for the same company for 9 years but after having my daughter in 2023, I decided it was time for me to take a step back and stay home with her. Motherhood has been the most rewarding job I have ever had! Being a mom in Austin has been a blast. I have loved exploring the city in a new way and meeting new friends with kids around the same age as my daughter, Molly
Why I joined Greater Austin Moms –
I was so excited to hear that Alison was looking to take on a partner. I started following Greater Austin Moms shortly after I got pregnant 2022 and loved having it as a resource. This opportunity came at the perfect time! I was ready to put some focus back into work while still being able to stay at home with my daughter. I am excited to be a part of this wonderful team and help share some of the incredible resources and events Austin has to offer.

At The Local Moms Network, we believe in giving moms the gift of time. What advice do you have for new moms?
As a first time mom, I am still learning something new everyday. I don’t have a life changing trick that helped get me more sleep or be more organized. My advice is to try to find a support system in the same phase of parenthood as you. I actually found a postpartum support group at Austin Doula Care through this network when Molly was 3 months old. It changed everything for me. Over a year later our group still leans on each other for support and advice. I have the most amazing friends and family who support me everyday but finding a group of moms who were going though the same things at the same time as me has been life changing.
There are so many wonderful resources and groups in Austin. My hope is to help a fellow mom find something that positivity impacts their lives as well.
Favorite restaurants –
My husband and I really love Paperboy. Everything, and I mean everything is absolutely delicious. Whenever we have family or friends in town, its always the first on the list to go to! We also love Loro! The casual atmosphere, the creative dishes and the cocktails are the perfect combination for a fun night out.
Favorite drink spot-
My husband and I love going to breweries and our favorite in Austin has always been Zilker Brewery. Now being parents, we explored more family friendly breweries with playgrounds and Meanwhile quickly become a favorite as well. My favorite cocktail is a margarita and some of the best in Austin are at La Holly! Frozen or not frozen, enjoying one of their margaritas and having tacos from their taco truck makes for a great afternoon!
